War Horse Memorial Project

We are proud to be involved in Hamilton’s proposed new public monument commemorating New Zealand’s war horses.  The statue is being created for installation in Memorial Park by 2018 to mark the Centenary of WW1.  The monument recognises the contribution of New Zealand’s 10,000 war horses who served alongside our nation’s military in foreign battlefields.  The Waikato Combined Equestrians are gifting the statue to the people of Hamilton.

Artist Matt Gauldie’s concept is a stunning bronze rider-less horse looking for his soldier.  Matt said “this is the second public bronze that we have used Envivo to carry out all our foundation and structural engineering solutions, Rob Walsham has always gone the extra mile to ensure a hassle-free service.”

Rob Walsham, our Principal Engineer, prepared the design report and engineering calculations for the statue base and installation.  Key statistics:

  • Statue height approx 2000mm
  • ‘Life-size’ – circa 16-17 hands
  • Circa 300kgs bronze

We are delighted to participate in the creation of the new war memorial statue and support this initiative.
