Envivo is excited to be assisting AUT’s 2019 Artist in Residence, Joseph Michael create the first ever life-sized digital reconstruction of Tāne Mahuta, New Zealand’s largest known living kauri tree located in Northland’s Waipoua Forest. Envivo Surveyor, Nathan Cossar, used point cloud scan data imagery to capture Tāne Mahuta and other significant kauri trees in the forest as part of Michael’s Raised Up Sky project.
Joseph Michael said, “It’s an exciting opportunity to expand our knowledge of one of NZ’s most treasured species, we need to think deeper and understand the consequences of our actions toward the natural environment.”
Michael’s work featured in the Tūrama Festival, held recently in Auckland’s Albert Park.
